Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports
Each JNPSD school is implementing positive behavior interventions and supports. PBIS is a school-wide system of support that includes proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors to create positive school environments. PBIS is built upon an environment of respect and rapport, effective procedures, and effective behavior management. A continuum of positive behavior support for all students within a school is implemented in areas including the classroom and common settings. Each campus has developed campus-wide expectations and established plans to teach, model, and reinforce the expected behaviors.

This presentation shows parents how to involve the whole family to set up positive behavior interventions and supports in the home. Parents learn how to establish clear expectations, use positive wording, teach the “why” of appropriate behavior, and acknowledge appropriate behavior.
Resources for Implementing Positive Behaviors Strategies in the Home
This brief shows parents how to use positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) at home. The strategies help parents to build children’s social-emotional-behavioral skills and reduce challenging behaviors. The document shows parents how to set routines, establish home expectations, and emphasize positive feedback.
